A foundational cognitive skill is eroding in classrooms across the country. This erosion of narrative thinking represents a loss that extends far beyond literature classes into how students learn across all subjects.

Narrative construction shapes how the human brain organizes information. When children encounter a story, their brains integrate language, memory, emotion, and perspective into a unified framework.
