Six educators have been selected for the 2026-27 ISTE+ASCD Voices of Change Fellowship, a program designed to amplify how schools are managing artificial intelligence adoption and digital transformation.
The fellowship brings together leading practitioners from across the United States to document and share their experiences implementing emerging technologies in K-12 settings. ISTE, the International Society for Technology in Education, and ASCD, formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, created the program to give educators a platform for discussing real classroom challenges and solutions around AI integration.
The fellows will contribute their expertise to conversations about responsible AI deployment, digital citizenship, and how schools balance innovation with practical constraints. Their work addresses a pressing need. Schools nationwide face pressure to adopt AI tools for instruction, assessment, and administrative tasks, yet many educators lack clear guidance on implementation best practices.
The fellowship provides selected teachers and instructional leaders with resources, networking opportunities, and a voice in national education conversations. Fellows typically share their insights through articles, webinars, conference presentations, and social media. Their contributions help shape how districts approach technology adoption and inform policy discussions at state and federal levels.
This fellowship comes as educators increasingly demand training and support for AI integration. A 2024 ISTE survey found that while 76 percent of teachers want to use AI in classrooms, only 37 percent feel prepared to do so. Programs like this fellowship help bridge that gap by elevating voices of practitioners who have successfully navigated these transitions.
The six 2026-27 fellows represent diverse school settings and grade levels, reflecting the varied ways AI shows up in American classrooms, from elementary writing support tools to high school data analysis projects. Their collective work will inform educators, administrators, and policymakers seeking evidence-based guidance on technology integration.
